Turn projection ideas into a shared design

PrismWeave Studio is MGC's projection design and previsualisation system. It connects 3D scene setup, projection coverage, media canvases, geometric correction and multi-projector edge blending in one workflow.

Designers can position screens, projectors, LED surfaces and people to compare coverage and spatial relationships. Technical teams can then assign content to each projector, adjust warping and blending, and configure on-site outputs through the companion player.

The shared scene helps creative, spatial design, media production and installation teams discuss where images will land, how they join and how the design will be delivered.

Where it can be useful

The following applications are derived from the system's documented capabilities and are intended for design exploration and technical communication.

Museums and immersive spaces

Explore flat, curved and spherical projection surfaces in museum galleries, corporate showrooms and themed spaces. Compare coverage and overlap from different projector positions. Place people and solid objects in the light path to investigate potential shadows from visitors, display structures and equipment.

Custom surfaces and projection mapping

Use cylindrical, spherical and hyperbolic screens, or import a custom OBJ projection surface. Allocate canvas regions and adjust warping to study image continuity and alignment with the surface boundary during early-stage mapping design.

Cultural attractions and event stages

Combine projection surfaces, LED screens, stage models and reference plans in one scene. Study screen combinations, media proportions and performer positions before aligning the spatial design with digital content production.

Multi-projector integration

Distribute one image or video canvas across several projectors, then work through content allocation, geometry and edge blending. Coverage heatmaps, weight previews and test patterns help distinguish a content-region problem from geometric misalignment or a brightness transition.

Training and design presentations

Use single-projector, two-projector and occlusion exercises to explain throw ratio, distance, UV selection, warping and blending. Export projects and preview reports for training, design reviews and handover discussions.

Main capabilities

CapabilityWhat it supports
3D scenes and measurementPosition screens and projectors; check distances, angles and spatial relationships
Optical previewsCompare the relative effects of throw ratio, lens shift, brightness, distance, surface material and occlusion
Image and video canvasLoad media and choose how it fits a shared canvas
UV selection and warpingChoose each projector's content region and adjust image geometry
Multi-projector blendingAdjust contributions within aligned overlap regions and inspect transitions
Projects and reportsImport and export local projects; use server projects and version history when signed in; generate preview reports
Companion playbackAssign display output regions and publish runtime configurations with PrismPlayer connected

Try a first scene

  1. Open the system on a desktop computer with a mouse. The language selector includes Simplified Chinese.
  2. If prompted to sign in, choose guest mode for an initial exercise. Keep the default test pattern and start with one flat screen and one projector.
  3. Change projector position and throw ratio to observe coverage. Add a person to explore occlusion.
  4. Add a second projector, assign left and right canvas regions, then try geometric alignment and edge blending.
  5. Export the local project JSON before leaving. Sign in and create a server project when you need server storage and version recovery.

Moving from a preview to a venue

Scene editing and previsualisation take place in the browser. Physical display assignments and runtime publishing require a separately configured PrismPlayer, project connection and on-site equipment. Opening the website alone does not connect real projectors.

Illuminance and surface reflection are relative previews, not substitutes for on-site light, colour and geometry measurements. Complex scenes and real-time projector counts depend on graphics performance. Confirm final results with the actual lenses, screens, ambient light and calibration.
